Counseling for New Moms
There are many worries and concerns after becoming a new mom. Thoughts of guilt, not feeling bonded with the baby, and missing your old lifestyle can often run through your mind.
These can be normal responses as new mothers adjust to the life changes that come with having a child. However, depending on the degree and length of time these feelings last, they could actually be Postpartum issues.
Postpartum struggles are common for many new mothers, however, if they remain undetected and undiagnosed, they can cause additional stress and have negative impacts in the lives and family dynamics for new mom’s, their spouses, and children.
Postpartum symptoms include:
- feelings of being overwhelmed
- an empty mood
- persistent doubts about your ability to care for your new baby
- loss of interest or pleasure in hobbies and activities
- fatigue or abnormal decreases in energy
Hormonal changes, personal and family history, and your support system are all factors in understanding and dealing with your postpartum symptoms. Being “moms of littles” is a hard job and it can be difficult sometimes to figure out who you are. If thoughts of “I don’t know who I am” run through your mind you are not alone.
If you are having any of the above emotions, please contact us today and we can help you navigate and move forward.
